The Arrival!
07.01.2015 Wednesday
7th Jan, 2015. The day is finally here. With nervousness and excitement we reached the airport to pick up our most awaited "buddy's" at 9 am. the officials of the Shamshabad international airport saw an excited group of 18 girls with their parents at the arrival gate with a humongous banner in their hands saying " Welcome to the Indo-German Exchange Programme, Friendship Beyond Borders" with garlands and vermilion ready to welcome, finally, THE GERMANS!

At 9.35 am, when we finally saw our much awaited friends coming out of the airport, tired due to the long journey yet excited about the reason behind the long flights, we rushed with excitement and welcomed them to India in the most traditional way possible: a "tilak" on the forehead and a flower garland handmade by Niralasa and her mother around their necks showcasing our happiness at receiving them and publicly acknowledging their importance.
We then introduced our buddy's to our friends and their buddy's and so on. a group picture of all the participants of the programme was taken holding the banner marking start of the exchange programme officially.
Each student then took their buddy to their respective homes, settled them in and gave them time to rest and recover from the long journey they had. Some students met with their buddy's later in the evening either in one's house or at a public location. Therefore today was meant for resting and getting to know each other and thats what happened. the day couldnt have gotten any better. Thank you.
